The past couple of weeks I've been trying to catch up making sports earrings. Ravens seem to be the most wanted.

I've been trying to catch-up to tooooo many things the past 2 months.
Here is what you need to make image jewelry like the heron earrings I made( I will be
selling more on my website).

Image downsized to the size you want using Microsoft word.
Very thin glass (purchase through stained glass website)
Cute glass to image size and use grinder to smooth edges
Make 2
Diamond glaze applied to glass and apply image ASAP (glaze dries quickly).
Copper foil each glass with 7/32", burnish, put together, wrap both images,
burnish and solder.
Solder LEAD FREE SOLDER Use jewelry flux (purchase from Fusion Beads)
Flux copper foil, solder, then add jump rings to attach earring findings,etc.

I feel young again

Yesterday My daughter, son-in-law and granddaughter came for a surprise visit. They live 1 hour and 15 min. away. It's difficult being far away, but we manage. My granddaughter is 13 months old going on 2 years. She has so much love, curiosity, life and energy! We went out to eat and went to a playground. She absolutely loved it. She was waving hello to everyone and wanted to be like all the other children running around. They were much older than her, but that didn't stop her. She's wonderful! She listened to whatever her parents told her to do because she wanted to be there. I felt young again. Reminded me of when I used to have fun with my kids.

One of my kitties has had a skin problem since November. The vet originally diagnosed it as cysts. Two weeks ago one of the cysts started looking pretty angry. Yesterday. I took her to the vet and she has them all over the place. She had a lump in her mammary gland. That is what's worrying me. He thinks it may be cancer. I already had to put one of my kitties to sleep because of intestinal cancer. I'm not prepared for this. She is the sweetest and only 13 1/2 years old. The biopsy results will be ready Thursday. We're praying that it's something else and not cancer. Life throws curves when you least expect them.

Hope everyone had a wonderful Valentines Day! My husband and I went to visit my daughter and son-in-law. He made corned beef and cabbage. He's a great cook! They had a daughter, Natalya, a year ago and made me a grandmother. I never knew there would be so much joy. She is wonderful. My husband, Nick and I are in love with her. I stray.

A Whimsical Bohemian

I have been doing stained glass panels,lampshades,light fans,etc. for 15 years. About 2 years ago I started making earrings with pictures of art I loved or custom pictures of children or pets for customers.
I have a small shop in Ellicott City, MD for 2 years. It's a joy talking to people. It's even more gratifying when customers give you compliments you least expect. I hope to be doing this for many more yeas to come. My husband is very supportive and a great friend when it comes to my artwork.

I find that many of us have more than one thing in common and that's cats. I have five of these furry guys. They love to help me create.

Stained Glass Shop in the basement

Since I was a child, I have always been fascinated by shiny things (glass, crystal, quartz rocks, etc.). I suppose that's why today I enjoy creating stained glass pieces and jewelry. Especially creating a piece for someone and seeing the expression on their face. I enjoy making people happy. It's been a challenge in today's economy, as it is for many, but with my husbands support and encouragement, I'm still doing what I love. He's a pretty special guy!

Today I'm going to continue with my stained glass snowflakes, sun-catchers of flowers and butterflies (spring will be here before we know it).
This is part of my stained glass working area. It's in the basement. I'm soooo happy it's away from all the main rooms. I tried keeping it clean, but when you have several projects going on, it's difficult, especially from the glass grinding. I have dust everywhere. One of my next projects is a blue heron. Side Street Framers in Severna Park have asked me to make one for sale at their shop. If you're ever in the area stop by. They're very talented and fun ladies. They look for artists and carry unique artwork in they're shop aside from the framing.
I'm hoping in February to start a stained glass class at the shop.

I'm having a very difficult time responding to bloggers who have left messages. Maybe I don't have the patience to figure it out. I'm going to ask my sister-in-law, Lydia, for some help. It's easier to build a website then to organizer and figure out a blog page. Try to bear with me.

It's been a little hectic

Well I'm back, done the Timonium show. It was advertised as the "Big Flea Antiques and Collectibles", so unfortunately, many customers where assuming it was a big flea market! I'm afraid the dealers weren't very happy, but it WAS nice to hear positive comments about my stained glass and jewelry and sell some of it. I managed to take a picture of my booth. Unfortunately, the lighting was also bad .
It was an experience. I think I'm going to do craft shows only. The sponsors have more experience in that field and the customers are looking for handcrafted items.

I've been a little busy this past week and probably will be until the Timonium Show. Hopefully it will continue throughout the season. I've been making Christmas charm ornaments. Each time I make them, I do something different. While I carry them in shop, they are $25 each with free engraving on the back ( customize). I think it's unique since you can personalize them and it'll be a real keepsake!
As time goes on, customers seem to be interested in the "sports" earrings. I'll try to have pictures of the ornaments and charms shortly.

Yes, I have finally started a BLOG! After much persuasion, consideration, frustration and manipulation, here it is.
As some of you know, I named my shop "Cypress Cove" because 25 years ago my husband was stationed in Monterrey/Carmel area in CA. We fell in love with the area. The vegetation, seals barking in the background, the 60-70 degree weather and the beautiful scenery. I would love to live there, BUT........
I hope I have the time to keep up with it.

My blog is not just for conversing with friends and customers. Let me know your opinions.
